Vidushi Smt. Ramya Praveen is an accomplished artist of the Carnatic school of music.  A gold medalist in M.A. Carnatic Music from Jain University and an All India Radio artist, her musical journey spans decades, rooted in the traditional Carnatic Music System.

She hails from a family rich in Carnatic music, arts, culture and tradition, she started learning music at the tender age of three. Her mother and maternal aunt were her first Gurus. Her paternal ancestors are believed  to have served in distinguished roles within the royal court of Shivaji Maharaja's descendants, a lineage that adds a layer of historical depth to her identity. 

Her parents relentlessly supported her interest in music and her every achievement was recognized and celebrated.

Her husband Sri. Praveen Prasanna is an IT professional and supports all her endeavors. He and his family have stood by her as her strength in her musical journey. She is blessed with a son, Master Saathvik P Rao, a Hindustani vocalist under the guidance of Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi. 

Projects

TIRUMALA TIRUPATI DEVASTHANAMS

Vidushi Smt. Ramya Praveen has been associated with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams and has participated in key cultural events such as Sahasra Deepalankara Seva, Brahmotsavams and many more. She has also contributed to Dasa Sahitya projects and rendered solo renditions for several CD releases.

Music has been a central part of Vidushi Smt. Ramya's life since a very young age. After a brief time in the corporate world, she decided to give it up and dedicated herself to music. Over the years, she has cultivated a distinct style that balances the richness of classical Carnatic music with a contemporary perspective. Alongside music, Vidushi Smt. Ramya is also an accomplished visual artist, with distinctions at the district and state levels in North India.

Teaching

She has studied under renowned masters, including Padmashri awardee Vidwan Shri. Rudrapatnam Thyagarajan, a direct lineage holder of Saint Thyagaraja, as well as Gana Kala Bhushana Vidwan Shri R. K. Padmanabha and Ganakalashri Smt. Kalavathi Avadhoot.

Vidushi Smt. Ramya Praveen has been committed to teaching Carnatic music from the past 8 or 9 years, working with students of all age groups, from 5 to 70 years. She currently trains around 40 to 50 students and has successfully groomed over 50 students from the basics. Several of her students have gone one to appear for music examinations and competitions, and some are now preparing to showcase their talent on stage.

Vidushi Smt. Ramya believes that the importance of music and its various aspects should be spread far and wide, making the entire society aware of its divine nature. Looking ahead, she wants to pursue advanced academic research in music exploring various dimensions of Carnatic music and its evolving role in contemporary times. Vidushi Smt. Ramya Praveen strongly feels that music is has a vital role in spiritual upliftment of the soul and that it leads us away from mundane and dreary existence.

Under the mentorship of Dr. Vyasanakere Prabhanjanacharya in Bangalore, Vidushi Smt. Ramya has worked on tuning classical compositions such as Hari Bhakta Saara and Dwaadasha Stotra, released in Madhwateertha Samsthanam. She has also contributed to CD Projects for Vyasaraj Math, Sosale.
