Vidushi Smt. Ramya Praveen hails from a musically rich and deeply traditional lineage. She began learning music at the age of three. From a very tender age, she displayed an innate sensitivity to music, responding to its nuances with deep emotion and understanding. Recognizing her uncanny ability to appreciate and absorb music, her parents encouraged her musical pursuits. Smt Ramya began her training under her maternal aunt, Vidushi Smt. Parimala Nagendra Rao and continued her learning under esteemed stalwarts.

Vidushi Smt. Ramya Praveen receives her advanced tutelage under the revered Padmashree Awardee Vidwan Sri R. N. Thyagarajan, one of the illustrious Rudrapatnam Brothers, who hails directly from Saint Sri Thyagaraja’s sishya parampara (disciplic lineage). Training under Vidwan Sri Thyagarajan has brought immense depth and maturity to her music. His guidance has refined her manodharma (creative improvisation), expanded her repertoire in rare and complex ragas, and strengthened her understanding of lyrical beauty and sahitya bhava.

Under his mentorship, she has had the honour of performing on many prestigious platforms, including the residence of the legendary composer Sri Mysore Vasudevachar in Mysuru, Sharada Samskrutika Sangha, Chembai Festival, Tiruvaiyyaru Tyagaraja Aradhana, SPICMACAY workshops, and several others. The emphasis of Sri Thyagarajan’s training—on purity of raga delineation, precision in gamakas, and soulful expression—has shaped her into a promising artiste of strong classical foundation and refined aesthetic sense. To her, Vidwan Sri R. N. Thyagarajan embodies the very spirit of Saint Thyagaraja in the present day.

A significant influence in Vidushi Ramya Praveen’s life has been Dr. Vyasanakere Prabhanjanacharya, an erudite scholar and her spiritual guide since childhood. His deep scholarship and guidance introduced her to the profound discipline of Dvaita philosophy, shaping her spiritual understanding and musical insight from a very young age. Under his mentorship, she had the rare honour of rendering Hari Bhakti Saara, Dwadasha Stotra, and Harikathamrita Saara—compositions of immense devotional and philosophical depth. Dr. Prabhanjanacharya’s nurturing presence has strengthened her musical expression while embedding in her strong spiritual values and an unwavering commitment to the path of Bhakti and Naada Yoga.

The early musical foundation of Vidushi Smt. Ramya Praveen was laid under the tutelage of Gana Kala Bhushana Vidwan Sri R. K. Padmanabha and Gana Kala Sri Vidushi Smt. Kalavathi Avadhoot, both of whom have played a pivotal role in shaping her as an artiste. Vidwan R. K. Padmanabha, a stalwart in the field of Carnatic music, was the first to introduce her to the vast world of classical music. His mentorship not only cultivated her musical skills but also groomed her overall personality, providing a holistic foundation for artistic growth. Under his inspiring guidance, she imbibed discipline, stage presence, and the value of balancing tradition with creativity.
Equally influential has been Vidushi Kalavathi Avadhoot, whose meticulous training and encouragement helped her delve deeper into the intricacies of Carnatic music. Through her nurturing guidance, Vidushi Ramya developed a deeper emotional connect with compositions, a refined sense of bhava, and an understanding of the spiritual essence underlying music. Their combined mentorship in her formative years laid a strong and enduring base for her continuing musical journey.

Music has been a central part of Vidushi Smt. Ramya's life since a very young age. After a brief time in the corporate world, she decided to give it up and dedicated herself to music. Her parents relentlessly supported her interest in music and her every achievement was recognized and celebrated. Her husband Sri. Praveen Prasanna is an IT professional and supports all her endeavors. He and his family have stood by her as her strength in her musical journey. She is blessed with a son, Master Saathvik P Rao, a Hindustani vocalist under the guidance of Pandit Jayateerth Mevundi.

Pandit Sri Pagadala Ananda Teerthacharya, a revered scholar in Dvaita philosophy and the Director of the Dasa Sahitya Project, Tirumala Tirupathi Devasthanam (TTD), has been a guiding force and a source of immense inspiration in Vidushi Smt. Ramya Praveen’s spiritual and musical journey. His mentorship has nurtured numerous disciples in the philosophical and devotional dimensions of music. Under his leadership, Vidushi Ramya has had the blessed opportunity to perform on prestigious TTD platforms such as Nadaneerajanam, Sahasradeepalankarana Seva, Srivari Brahmotsavam, and Padmavathi Brahmotsavam, which are telecast worldwide. She has also rendered her voice for several TTD CD projects released on various auspicious occasions, including Brahmotsavams, by eminent TTD officials and IAS officers. Pandit Ananda Theerthacharya’s teachings have instilled in her the true essence of “Seva through Sangeeta”, where every note becomes an offering of devotion.
